About Us

Seaway Sounds, an international women’s chorus is a diverse group of women who share an interest in and are passionate about their music, friends, family and community. We are proud to have been winning hearts in Sarnia-Lambton (Ontario) and Port Huron area (Michigan) for over thirty years. Seaway Sounds is broadening its’ talents with modern a cappella music while still respecting its’ roots in women’s barbershop harmony. Our exciting repertoire spans all musical genres from barbershop standards, jazz, show tunes, and adult contemporary. We don’t hold music when we sing, and we don’t stand still. We learn rhythmic movement and many songs are choreographed. Experience the soaring overtones, beautiful harmonies, and ringing chords of our a cappella chorus!

Singing with the chorus is a journey of personal growth and, along the way, enduring friendships are forged and lasting memories created.

Seaway Sounds is a proud Chapter of Sweet Adelines International and SAI Border Lakes Region 2.

Meet the Director – Michelle St. Onge-Mitchell

Michelle has that special magic that it takes to hold centre stage! She became full-time Director in 2010, and with her energy, enthusiasm, and natural showmanship, she bewitches us all!

Involved with Seaway Sounds Chorus and quartets since 1995, Michelle started out in the baritone section before moving on to our lead section. She received her Director Certification in 2004, and continues to hone her skills at Sweet Adelines (SA) workshops. Her father was an avid barbershopper and her mother sings with Seaway Sounds. Her daughter can’t wait to join us on the risers! Married, with two children, a career in Child and Youth work, and responsible for the school Glee Club, Michelle is excited to develop this growing chorus. Michelle has fulfilled one of her dreams in 2017 when she placed 2nd  with her quartet, Hot Wire at Sweet Adelines Regional competition and dreams of one day being on the International stage.
