Margaret Anne McKichan
Margaret Anne hails from a musical family, where most Sunday nights were spend singing, dancing, and playing music in the kitchen! As an intermediate school teacher, Margaret Anne was deeply involved in teaching vocal music, as well as coaching and directing school choirs and small ensembles to success in numerous festivals and seasonal concerts. Margaret Anne's expertise in people management led to her appointment to Management Leader 2011 - 2015. She has recently taken on a role as assistant director.
Upon retiring in 2009, Margaret Anne joined the chorus and quickly immersed herself in learning traditional barbershop singing. Her strong lead voice has been in demand for our quartets and ensembles, and she was quickly appointed to head up the Lead section. Margaret Anne believes that a cappella singing offers the opportunity to hone musical skills.... without the protection and cover of other instrument voices!
Margaret Anne is famous for her
- weekly blogs, released after each rehearsal, delivering us words of encouragement and many tips for improvement,
- generous coaching of new members,
- long road trips all the while learning new songs, and
- beautiful stained glass designs.
